Welcome to skinnyfats, a blog about life after weight loss.
Americans spend countless hours and dollars every year to lose weight. They join gyms. They hire personal trainers. They purchase DVDs. They buy books. All of the time and money spent on dropping pounds and living healthier is worth it to look and feel your best, but they only tell part of the story.
We know, because we grew up chubby. Our best friends were Lil Debbie and Dolly Madison and the pizza delivery guys in our neighborhoods knew us on a first-name basis. We’ve lost weight and maintained healthy lifestyles since, but the challenges do not stop just because you hit your goal weight.
The truth is, losing weight is like graduating from college. You feel great about yourself and proud as a peacock, and rightfully so. Everyone tells you how wonderful you have done and you have a new lease on life. But then what?
No one ever explains that college graduation is not a golden ticket. No one tells you that finding a worthwhile job is difficult or gives you a clue about the daily stresses of life in the real world.
Weight loss works the same way. It’s not as if you stop working once you lose weight; it’s called fitness, not fairness. There are still temptations, there are still challenges. On this blog, we will discuss those challenges and ways to conquer them.
To health and happiness,
Tom & Liz
